Wardrobe MUST HAVES For Girls

Alrightyyyy! So you must have already read infinite versions of “Wardrobe MUST haves”. This post is about MY take on the wardrobe essentials, not just restricted to the clothes section.

So we basically have three areas to cover. First, ofcourse the apparel followed by footwear and accessories.

APPAREL

1.      A White Crisp Shirt: I know I know!  It’s a repetition but believe me IT IS a MUST MUST have. You can wear it over trousers to office, tuck it in with a pair of jeans for a formal party or simply keep it hanging out for a casual look.

2.      Little Black Dress: You will never go wrong dressing up for an evening party if you have LBD in your wardrobe. Accessorize it any which way and you are ready to rock and roll.

3.      A Pair of Blue Jeans: A well fitted pair of blue jeans is an essential. Wear it with a sheer top for the evening or with a racer back tee during the day.

4.      A Pair of Black Trousers: If you are working you’ll know how much importance this particular piece of cloth has attached to it.

5.      A Black Blazer: A black blazer is not just important to work. Pair it up with a pair of blue jeans and a white tee and you are ready to go out with friends.

6.      A Knee-length Kurta: While you can wear it over a pair of jeans for a comfortable casual look, it will come handy when attending a Puja (ritual) or for any festival in general. You can wear it with a salwar or a churidar as per your liking. Afterall, you would not want to feel left out when everyone is celebrating an occasion decked up in Indian attire.

7.      A Silk Saree: Believe it or not but this six-yard long outfit is a wonder. While you can still splurge on an exquisite kanjeevaram, a plain silk saree with minimalistic border will keep you in the loop for any special occasion. Accessorize it with big jhumkas, or a big neckpiece for a wedding. With minimal jewellery it will be apt for a formal dinner.

8.      A Pair of Pyjamas: A pair of cute pyjamas is a must for the lazy bone in us. When at home, you would not want to be in anything else but these.

9.      A few t-shirts: You can wear them over jeans or over your pyjamas or under a jacket or a blazer. You will definitely need these.

1.  Well fitted UGs: Last but most certainly not the least, well fitted undergarments. Yes, they are a must. If they are not right anything you wear above them will suffer too.

The list can go on for clothes. For example if you are a sports junkie you will definitely need a pair of track pants. The essentials also change according to the weather. But in general the 10 things mentioned above suffice.

FOOTWEAR

1.      A pair of slippers: This because you cannot bathe or use the loo wearing your favourite pair of heels.

2.      A Pair of Black Pumps: This because you cannot be in the loo all the time while at a party LOL. This pair will go well with almost every outfit if you are going out for a formal evening or for a crazy night at the club.

3.      A Pair of Flat Ballerinas: From work to a lunch/dinner with friends. This pair will be your best friend. Easy to slip into and slip out of, ballerinas are a must.

4.      A Pair of Running Shoes: You might give a pair of track pants a miss, but shoes are a must to keep you fit. This is a wardrobe investment you should make without any second thoughts.

ACCESSORIES

1.      A Sleek Belt: A narrow sleek belt will not just help you keep your trousers in place and can be used in innumerable ways to accessorize various outfits.

2.      A Scarf/Stole: A pretty printed scarf can add a new life to any outfit or even a bag for that matter.

3.      A Pair of Dangler Earrings: Because these can be your instant accessory to deck up for a party. They will go well with your dress and even your saree completing both the looks and making them all the more special.

4.      A Pair of Studs: From silver to stone, there are various types of studs available in the market. My favourite are a pair of plain round pearl tops or a pair with a basic crystal stone.

5.      Big Black Tote: A BBT is a must, for you can carry it to work, to the mall, for a vacation or even for a night stay at your friend’s place. It will embrace in all your belongings with much ease. From your book, to your make-up essentials, to a change of UGS for the next day, it can hold it all.

6.      A Clutch: Just yesterday, a guy friend of mine asked me why girls carry a clutch to every party.  The answer to that is that firstly it can bring a plain outfit to life adding colour or contrast to it. Secondly, we like to keep our belongings safe with us. Lastly i would just want to say that it’s OK if you don’t have a man’s arm around your waist, a clutch clinging to your palm does the trick. I suggest a clutch with a string since you can have food without bothering about it (a foodie like me find my ways *wink*).

Yes! So that is it. If you have ATLEAST the above mentioned things in your wardrobe you are good to go anywhere anytime.

P.S.: Don’t forget to wear a big smile and a dash of perfume before you get out. The world is a better place when you have these two things on.
