Easy Appetizers For a Party

So this Saturday we (my husband and I) hosted a small get together at our place. Now those who know me well know how meticulous I am when hosting a party. I like assuring everything is proper. OK! Atleast I try to do things in the best way possible *eyes rolling*.

Since we were doing a formal dinner after ages (the casual ones happen quite often with food usually ordered in) I wanted to make it special for everyone specially my husband. I was the chef for the evening. Don’t worry everyone’s stomachs are safe. Just incase you are thinking otherwise LOL.

Anyway so I would not be going crazy with the party details. In this post I will be sharing a few easy appetizers both, veg and non-veg that hardly take any effort and time but will surely make you the star of the evening.

First for the non-veg appetizers, you can create a platter with the following like I did:

The Non-Veg Platter (L-R: Chicken seekh, salami and mutton seekh)

1.      Salami and cheese:
Ingredients: salami and cheese cubes.
The best part about this is that it looks wonderful and is prepared in literally five minutes. So all you have to do is buy some salami and cheese cubes.
Cut the cheese cubes in small dices.
Now take one salami slice and fold it in half.
Keep a cheese dice in the centre and put a toothpick across the salami and the cheese dice.
Tadaaaa! It is ready. Repeat and you have one appetizer all set to be plated.

2.      Chicken/Mutton Seekh (I did both):
Ingredients: chicken/mutton seekh, oil, capsicum, onion, any sauce, salt and pepper
Get frozen seekhs.
Defrost them then cut them into sizes of your choice.
Cut capsicum and onions into big chunks.
Now put some oil n a skillet, add cut onion and capsicum. Sauté for two minutes. Add seekh pieces to it. Now use any sauce you have handy.
My husband loves using Tabasco but you can literally use any (ketchup, soy, chilli anything). Add a dash of salt and pepper. Toss for a few minutes and it is done. Now isn’t that simple? And believe me its yum too.

Now coming to the veg appetizers, below are the options that you can try:

1.      Cottage Cheese Crackers:
Ingredients: Nutrichoice Crackers (or any cracker, even Monaco will do), cottage cheese (paneer), oil, capsicum, one cheese cube, salt, pepper, oregano and ketchup
Put some oil in a pan, add to it mashed cottage cheese, and finely cut capsicum. Add a cheese cube to it. Once it melts, add salt, pepper and oregano. Take it off the flame. Now take a cracker, layer it with some ketchup and top it with some cottage cheese. It’s done!

2.      Chana Bhel Chaat:
Ingredients: Black grams (kale chane), Chopped Onion, Chopped Tomato, Frozen Sweetcorn, Garden’s Diet Bhel, Salt, Chaat Masala, fresh coriander leaves and lemon juice.
Soak grams overnight.
Boil them in salted water the next day. Once they are done let them cool.
Boil the frozen sweetcorns similarly and let them cool.
Now in a bowl throw in all the above mentioned ingredients and mix well.
Chana Bhel Chaat is ready!
I used Garden’s diet bhel but you can use any namkeen that is available in your kitchen.

Chana Bhel Chaat (btw i made these glasses a little fancy with some tape and strings)

3.      Salad sticks:
Ingredients: cucumber and carrots
Cut cucumber and carrots in sticks and serve them with the dip of your choice.
Super easy! Super Healthy. Sadly i could click a picture of them since my hands were full. Maybe next time :)

I hope these appetizers save you a little thinking while planning the next party at your place.

Happy Partying!
